SARAJEVO, April 1 (FENA) - Sarajevo Canton is in direct negotiations for the procurement of vaccines against Covid-19, information protection agreements have been signed and we cannot give any details about that, Cantonal Prime Minister Edin Forto said in a statement for FENA.

He could not even talk about how likely it is to procure vaccines, because the cantonal level of government has difficult access to world producers.

“I cannot give details about wholesale pharmacies and specific vaccines due to the signed confidentiality agreement. We are looking for a minimum of 100,000 doses, and at this stage it would be ideal to have 200,000,” Forto added.

However, as he emphasized, according to the information at his disposal, deliveries of significant quantities of vaccines are achievable in June.

“By the way, for us who have made a huge number of attempts to procure vaccines, it is always interesting how various suppliers, and even governments, announce vaccines 'in three days'. And we would like it to be possible, but the reality that Canton is facing is a little different,” said Forto.

Sarajevo Canton has so far received 2,100 doses of Covishield AstraZeneca vaccine donated to Bosnia and Herzegovina by Serbia, and 1,596 doses of Pfizer vaccine have also been received, confirmed the Institute of Public Health for FENA.

So far, only 2,100 health workers have been vaccinated, and this week the vaccination of health workers will be continued with the Pfizer vaccine.

They pointed out that the process of registering the population for vaccination has not even begun, because so far there are still not enough doses for priority groups such as health workers and nursing homes, which will require between about 9,000 and 10,000 doses for these two priority groups alone.

However, an application for those interested in vaccinating against coronavirus was launched this week, and 15,000 citizens have applied so far. It is available only for those who have health insurance, i.e. an electronic health insurance card.

He also warned of employees of foreign organizations who do not pay health insurance directly to the Health Insurance Institute but give compensation to employees through a salary, which should also be changed so that they also receive a health insurance card and be able to apply for vaccination.
