Sarajevo showed that it has the courage to resist evil

SARAJEVO, April 6 (FENA) - BiH Presidency members Željko Komšić and Šefik Džaferović paid honors and laid flowers today at the Eternal Flame Memorial to mark the Day of the City of Sarajevo.

Komšić stated that the anti-fascist spirit of Sarajevo was manifested in the Second World War and in the last war, and Sarajevo showed that it has the courage to resist all those evil forces.

“We felt it on our skin, but it was not directed only against us but against a whole system of values that befits a free man,” said Komšić.

He emphasized that all those who tried to destroy Sarajevo wanted to break that kind of value system where everyone could live in one place, regardless of who they are.

Komšić emphasized that it is a human and moral obligation to pay tribute on that day to all those who gave their lives for Sarajevo.

Džaferović congratulated the anniversary of the liberation of the city from fascism in the Second World War to all citizens of Sarajevo and added that it was an opportunity to once again confirm our anti-fascist tradition and commitment.

“On the principles of that tradition, we are building Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina as a complete and democratic state of equal people and citizens,” Džaferović pointed out.

He reminded that the barbaric siege of Sarajevo began 29 years ago, which was defeated by the libertarian spirit of Sarajevo, but many who attacked the city were not held accountable for it.
