Košarac: A key step has been taken to export milk and dairy products to China

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, April 6 (FENA) - BiH Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Staša Košarac said today that a completed revised questionnaire for the export of milk and dairy products from BiH had been submitted to the People's Republic of China.

“The Veterinary Office of BiH, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH and competent entity institutions, submitted to the Chinese side the answers to the added questions from the Questionnaire, which is the final step in the process of approving exports of milk and dairy products to the Chinese market,” said Košarac.

According to him, in the next phase of this process, the arrival of Chinese inspectors in BiH is expected in order to control domestic capacities for milk production and processing.

“There is even a possibility that the export of milk and dairy products will be approved without the control of the competent Chinese inspectors, since domestic companies already export to the EU, which means that they meet standards and product quality to meet this demanding market,” added Košarac.

In the previous period, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, as he emphasized, intensified efforts to open the Chinese market for milk and dairy products from BiH, which will be an additional incentive for the development of domestic agricultural capacities.

He expressed gratitude and welcomed the efforts of the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to BiH, Ji Ping, to accelerate the activities that will result in the opening of the Chinese market for milk and dairy products from BiH.

“China is our long-term partner with whom we want to strengthen cooperation and increase the volume of foreign trade. This commitment was confirmed by the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Milorad Dodik at the recent '17+1 Summit’, when it was concluded that China plans to import goods worth 170 billion dollars from Central and Eastern European countries in the next five years, and to double the import of agricultural products from this part of Europe, which is a chance for the domestic agricultural sector,” said Košarac, announced the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations.
