BIHAĆ, April 7 (FENA) - Interior Minister of the Una-Sana Canton (USC) Nermin Kljajić confirmed that a search is still underway for a person who used firearms and wounded an eight-year-old boy from Iraq during a recent clash between migrants in Velika Kladuša.
“There are certain indications, that is, knowledge of who that person is, so we are intensively searching for him. Our job is difficult because those who manage the Temporary Reception Center Miral in Velika Kladuša allow almost uncontrolled movement of all beneficiaries of the services of this center. The non-existence of a certain "house rules" or movement control is one of the reasons for violating the security situation, i.e. that migrants can more easily come into contact with suspicious persons, from whom we presume they procured firearms,” said Minister Kljajić.
According to police data, more than four thousand migrants and refugees are currently staying in the Una-Sana Canton.
“About two thousand people are currently accommodated in four reception centers in the area of Bihać, Cazin and Velika Kladuša, and according to our information we probably have the same number of people in public areas and in abandoned buildings. The biggest security challenge for us, apart from these people in uncontrolled accommodation, is the Temporary Reception Center Miral in Velika Kladuša. That is why we decided to control that center more strictly, that is, we are going in the direction of banning further admissions and its gradual closure. Of course, we are asking for the help of the competent state institutions to determine a location outside our canton in the next few months, to which these people could possibly be relocated,” the Minister of the Interior of the USC added.
