ZENICA, April 8 (FENA) - Mayor of Zenica Fuad Kasumović and President of the Zenica Citizens' Forum Faruk Kadrić solemnly unveiled a replica of the Bilino Polje Declaration at Kulin Ban Park in Bilino Polje today, which was signed on this date, 8 April 1203, and testifies to centuries of continuity of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also the rich past of the city of Zenica.
"On this occasion, Kulin Ban Park gets another historical exhibit - a replica of the Bilino Polje Declaration. Today, we have several very important historical exhibits in this area. In addition to the plaque of Kulin Ban, there is also the plaque of the Grand Judge Gradješa, the Charter of Kulin Ban and as of today, the Bilino Polje Declaration. Thus, we have completed our goal to give a chance to our citizens, students, guests, tourists to get to know our past, to preserve and nurture it," said Kadrić.
Kasumović pointed out that the people of Zenica, on the occasion of the 818th anniversary of the Bilno Polje Declaration, have the opportunity to celebrate "the courage, wisdom, vision of the Bosnian ruler, Kulin Ban".
A historian from Zenica, Dr. Amir Ismić reminded that the Bilino Polje Declaration, signed between the then Bosnian ruler Kulin Ban and the papal envoy Ivan Kazamaris, was signed in similar historical circumstances as they exhist in this area today.
The Bosnian state, he added, was still a place of freedom of religion. Multiculturalism and respect for the other has always existed in Bosnia. That is why the attempt to fit history into today's framework and standards is completely wrong, explained Ismić.
