BIHAĆ, April 9 (FENA) - The Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Fadil Novalić, confirmed at today's meeting with the Mayor of Bihać, Šuhret Fazlić, that 25 million KM has been secured this year for the project of building an airport in the city on the Una River.
"About 10 million KM have been set aside for the construction phase so far, and a budget of another 25 million KM has been secured this year. Specifically, at today's meeting, we talked about the program of spending those funds, the time needed to implement our plans within this year's budget. We absolutely agree to go into phased construction, primarily this year's 1,200-meter runway, the first phase of the airport building, lighting, radar monitoring, plane approaches and other technical details," said Prime Minister Novalić.
He also added the possibility of including possibly interested concessionaires in the complete project.
"The total value of the project of the airport in Bihać is around 130 million KM, and with this year's funds, we will reach the figure of around 35 million KM provided by the Government of the Federation of BiH. We would have nothing against involving concessionaires, not so much because of lack of money but due to the experience and possibilities of tourism and business promotion of both the airport and the Una-Sana Canton", said the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH.
The Mayor of Bihać, Šuhret Fazlić, reminded of the importance of such a project for the entire Una-Sana Canton and emphasized the belief in the success of the final outcome in the near future.
"We have already done the project documentation, the access road, the test runway and performed a good part of the land expropriation, so I am really optimistic about the realization of perhaps the biggest project ever for the Una-Sana Canton backed by the FBiH Government. An aeronautical study is already underway, so we have a lot of work ahead of us this year," said Bihać Mayor Fazlić.
