Novalić speaks with Celik about about modernizing the health sector in FBiH

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, April 11 (FENA) - The Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Fadil Novalić held a meeting at the FBiH Government headquarters in Sarajevo, with the owner and director of the Turkish company "Oncosem" Erol Celik about the modernization of the health sector, especially in the field of oncology, and the potential of using Turkish rapid tests for COVID-19.

Prime Minister Novalić thanked for the visit and the expressed readiness of the Republic of Turkey and its companies to help the health sector in the FBiH, especially when it comes to the treatment of oncology patients, said the FBiH Government.

"You are welcome with concrete proposals, especially on such important areas such as the health sector. Given the divided competencies in health care in the FBiH, we will try to soon organize a new meeting with representatives of the health sector to discuss cooperation and possible future steps," said Novalić.

This Turkish company is part of a group that develops solutions in the treatment of oncology patients and is the largest supplier to the Turkish Ministry of Health. In addition, this company manufactures medical devices, aids and devices that are used in the treatment of oncology patients.

"In Turkey, we have created a system that almost 80 percent of patients go through treatment and therapy without leaving the place where they reside, which is very important from the motivational point of view. Through the development of such a system in BiH, at the same time, the costs of treatment would be reduced three to four times and equal opportunities would be provided to every patient, even in smaller communities," said Celik.

"Oncosem" is one of the world's largest manufacturers of rapid tests for COVID-19, which provide the result within 3 to 5 minutes, and which can be used independently, without sending a sample to the laboratory, and the manufacturer underlines that these tests are also used in Western Europe.

The company "Nucleus Pharma" from Sarajevo, which is the exclusive representative of "Onkosem" for the former Yugoslavia and Albania, points out that the tests have already been registered with the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of BiH, and that a certain amount can be found on the market.

"Having in mind the complete situation, the financial burden onto the system, especially with PCR tests which are extremely expensive, we agreed on a special price, a special financial package for BiH, so that we could go into wide testing," said Mladen Vlaški, general manager of Nucleus Pharma.
