Novalić: The epidemiological situation in FBiH is stabilizing

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, April 12 (FENA) - Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Fadil Novalić held an online meeting today with the cantonal prime ministers to discuss harmonization and joint action in FBiH due to overcoming the situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The meeting was also attended by immunologist Jasenko Karamehić.

According to the latest data from health institutions, the epidemiological situation in the Federation of BiH is stabilizing, and in the last seven days there has been a decrease in new confirmed cases by 21 percent.

Weekly indicators also show that the number of deaths in the Federation of BiH has decreased by 11 percent.

At the level of the Federation, the seven-day incidence was reduced by 21.3 percent and per 100 thousand inhabitants today is 255 cases.

The largest incidence was recorded in the Herzegovina-Neretva, West Herzegovina and Bosnia-Podrinje cantons.

According to reports from cantonal prime ministers and health ministers, the epidemiological situation in the cantons is heading for a slight phase of improvement.

The data indicate an improvement in the Sarajevo Canton and in the last two days, the canton registered less than a hundred new cases a day.

Epidemiological measures remain the same, with slight easing in some cantons.

Prime Minister Novalić informed the cantonal prime ministers about the activities undertaken by the FBiH Government and the FBiH Public Health Institute in the procurement of coronavirus vaccines for the needs of the citizens of the Federation of BiH, and the procurement of vaccines from Russian, Chinese and American manufacturers.

He also informed them about the possibilities of using antigen (rapid) tests for Covid-19, which he talked about last weekend with the director of the Turkish company "Oncosem".

“The FBiH Ministry of Health will develop synchronized activities in order to start applying rapid tests in the Federation of BiH, which are very important in performing daily activities for businesses and other business entities, and whose application has proved useful in other activities in the country and certain regions,” said Prime Minister Novalić.

The cantons also proposed that the restriction on the movement of citizens in the FBiH be moved from 9 pm to 11 pm to 5 am.

The FBiH Prime Minister will send this proposal to the Crisis Staff of the FBiH Ministry of Health for consideration, leaving the possibility to cantonal governments and staffs to introduce more restrictive measures based on the assessment of the epidemiological situation in the canton and municipality, announced today the Press Service of the Government of the Federation of BiH.
