SARAJEVO, April 13 (FENA) - At the commemoration for the BiH Army General, Jovan Divjak, which was held today in Sarajevo, his friends and colleagues said the last goodbye to the retired general of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ARBiH) and the founder of the association "Education Builds BiH".
The speakers at the ceremony underlined that Divjak was the kind of general who shouted "Do not shoot!", and that he was consistent, brave and proud.
His grandson Gregor Divjak read his grandfather's letter in which he said that esteemed members of the Army of RBiH should be proud of their contribution to the defense of BiH and the preservation of the civic, secular community.
"His days of life in Sarajevo were days of love, mutual respect and appreciation. I apologize if I hurt anyone, never on purpose. I ask for your forgiveness and 'halal', as we are used to say here," Divjak stated in a letter he started writing in December 2019, when he learned that the disease had returned.
Divjak's friends Minka Muftić, Vildana Selimbegović, Danis Tanović and Dino Mustafić said goodbye to Jovan, whose life, despite his military career, was filled with journalists and artists.
Jovan Divjak died on April 8, 2021, and he will be buried today at 2 pm at Bare city cemetery.
Today is the Day of Mourning in the Sarajevo Canton due to the death of General Jovan Divjak.
