PRIJEDOR, April 13 (FENA) - The vaccines that were supposed to be used for the revaccination of people over the age of 65 in Prijedor remained unused as they were deemed unfit due to a power outage in the storage.

Slobodan Javor, acting Director of the Health Center Prijedor, the city stopped administering the second component of the vaccine "Sputnik V" because of the power outage on several occasions, which led to the interruption of the cold chain of the vaccine, Nezavisne novine reports.

"There was a disturbance in the temperature in the freezer in relation to the temperature that is planned for storing vaccines," said Javor at the press conference in Prijedor.

Milica Otković, the head of the Hygienic-Epidemiological Service of the Prijedor Health Center said that the vaccines that were given to the citizens yesterday morning were completely safe and were stored in the cold chain regime.

"As for our fellow citizens, there is no need for them to be worried. Other citizens waiting for their second component of the Sputnik V vaccine will be subsequently notified of the date, i.e. they will be called the same as the first occasion and there is no reason to worry. Regardless of the fact that the 21-day deadline expires, they will be vaccinated in the scheduled time," Otković emphasized.

According to her, of those who received the first one, about 1,360 people have yet to receive the second dose of the vaccine.
