SARAJEVO, April 14 (FENA) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Šefik Džaferović sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of the Day of the Army of the Republic of BiH.
If it were not for the Army of RBiH, there would be no BiH today. For three and a half years, as long as it took for the sluggish mechanisms of the international community to start and protect international law, the Army of the Republic of BiH was the only guarantor of the survival of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Bosniak people in the face of aggression and genocide.
Džaferovic emphasizes that the Army of RBiH is one of the most honorable armies in history, because it was an army that originated from the right to self-defense, as a fundamental human right.
“But it was also the army that, defending the multiethnic state of BiH, defended one of the basic ideas of civilizations - the idea that people of different religions and cultures can live together,” he said.
He added that the Army of RBiH is a unique phenomenon in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“After a century of service in other people's armies and for other people's interests, for the first time we took our own destiny into our hands, defended the state and our own freedom. That is why the Army of RBiH, as a people's army, made up of people from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is a value that we should preserve and nurture, passing on the memory of it to new generations,” said member of the BiH Presidency Šefik Džaferović in his congratulatory message.
