SARAJEVO, April 15 (FENA) - The Council of Ministers of BiH has determined the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Excise Tax in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will be submitted to the BiH Parliamentary Assembly for consideration according to the basic legislative procedure.
The aim of the Bill is to equate the occurrence of the obligation to pay excise tax for taxpayers who trade in tobacco products with taxpayers who trade in other excise products.
Amendments to the Law define the obligations to pay excise tax on tobacco products in the same way as for other excise products, which in practice means that it will be paid during the first trade or import of products.
According to the current law, excise tax on tobacco products is paid when taking over excise stamps, while for other products it is paid during the first sale or import of products. Practically, this means that the amount of excise tax on tobacco products was paid even a few months before the import of the product or its release on the market, the BiH CoM said.
