Alma Tabaković appointed as special commissioner for migration issues in SC

SARAJEVO, April 15 (FENA) - At the suggestion of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton, the Government of the Sarajevo Canton today passed a Decision on the appointment of Alma Tabaković as Special Commissioner for migration issues in the Sarajevo Canton.

According to SC Interior Minister Admir Katica, Alma Tabaković has many years of experience in migration, in Asia, Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, as well as in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Sarajevo Canton said.

She will implement her immense experience and facilitate the work of the Government and the Ministry of the Interior of SC, when it comes to the migrant crisis in the canton.

“We expect that she collects all relevant information that is necessary for making adequate decisions and creating adequate policies of the Government of SC when it comes to the migrant population. Also, she will cooperate with all relevant bodies, international and domestic, which are responsible for the issue of migrants in BiH,” explained Minister Katica.

In this way, the SC Government, although not competent for this issue, gained additional strength, and said that it will always be at the service of the citizens of the Sarajevo Canton, which is the goal of such a decision.

Tabaković is in charge of mapping all relevant actors in the Sarajevo Canton and preparing an internal database, as well as a form for external distribution to all relevant factors for regular reporting of activities related to providing any form of assistance to people on the move/migrants, organizing and coordinating regular monthly meetings with all actors and preparation of flash reports for cantonal relevant ministries, preparation and development of a database, with protected information, of all people on the move who are located in the reception centers in Blažuj and Ušivak, in close coordination with IOM.

Also, she is in charge of mapping the locations of private accommodation of people on the move, preparing a draft request of the Government of Sarajevo Canton to the IOM to submit protocols for action in reception centers that regulate basic technical issues in other countries, and establishing and maintaining relations with relevant representatives from other levels of government in order to collect and exchange information.

Tabaković has 20 years of work experience in senior positions in organizations such as UN, IOM, IRC, IMC, MdM, projects and programs of migration, human rights, primary and secondary health programs, and many years of experience in successfully leading teams of five to 250 people.
