Zvizdić: We in BiH are able to decide about our own destiny

SARAJEVO, April 18 (FENA) - Every document related to Bosnia and Herzegovina made without the BiH institutions should stir strong reactions and that is something that history taught us, said Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Zvizdić today as a guest speaker at the regular Sunday session of the Association of Independent Intellectuals 'Circle 99', speaking about on the topic "'Non-papers, realpolitik and stability of sovereign states".

Zvizdić reminded that there are currently two 'non-papers' circulating in public in which others write about Bosnia and Herzegovina, and although different, both have a common denominator and that is interference in the internal affairs of an independent and sovereign Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He added that the foreign policy of countries that have a declarative commitment to the European Union is not accompanied by real and realistic procedures that are in line with the policy of the European Union and EU countries.

"We in BiH are able to decide about our own destiny and those countries should help us on the path to the EU, and not make it more difficult for us, as it is a complex task anyway," said Zvizdić.

He assessed that it is necessary to stop ethnocentric large-scale projects, and the internal policies of BiH's neighbors must be turned into concrete and friendly assistance.

He called on the intellectual community and pro-Bosnian political forces to react strongly to every document related to BiH made without the BiH institutions "because historical experience has taught us that ignoring such phenomena can have major consequences for BiH and the region".

He reminded of the first 'non-paper' on Bosnia and Herzegovina prepared by the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU), which was presented in the former SFRY as a non-binding academic text, but later proved to be an inspiration for war, genocide, ethnic cleansing, etc.

"It is something that BiH patriots will not allow ever again and whoever allows it opens the way for retrograde and anti-civilization forces in BiH and the region and risks opening Pandora's box," Zvizdić believes.

Speaking about the 'non-paper' which the Prime Minister of Slovenia Janez Janša allegedly backed and sent to Brussels, he says that it envisages the division of BiH as well as the realization of three large-state projects, which envisages the disappearance of three sovereign countries.

He underlined that whoever thinks that the citizens of these three countries would silently agree to such solutions on 'peaceful divisions' is making a huge mistake. Regardless of the lukewarm reaction of the EU, we are pleased with the sharp reaction of Germany and the United States, which emphasized that the architecture of the Western Balkans is finished and that there will be no redrawing of borders," Zvizdić underlined.

"The story of the secession of the entity of Republika Srpska always sounds harsh, but a 'peaceful split' sounds much nicer but it has the same content and the same end goal. There is no talk of peaceful separation or dissolution of BiH, and especially not on ethnic principles," stressed Zvizdić.

He is of the opinion that it is necessary to go into a complete reintegration and a planned, gradual, but thorough change of the Constitution of BiH, which will increase the level of functionality of BiH and strengthen state institutions to implement EU reforms.

He believes that it is necessary to consider returning to quality solutions from the so-called "April package", which was created in cooperation with the international community and which was supported by all currently leading policy makers.
