Young people present numerous innovative ideas at 4th eUPSHIFT workshop in BiH

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, April 19 (FENA) - The 4th eUPSHIFT workshop in Bosnia and Herzegovina, implemented by the "Genesis Project" from Banja Luka in partnership with UNICEF in BiH and with the financial support of the Kingdom of Sweden, ended with the selection of ideas of five youth teams.

The implementation of these ideas will be financially supported with 15,000 KM.

In addition to grant funds, these teams will be provided with additional training in financial literacy and mentoring during the implementation of the solution for a period of two months, the organizers said.

Ten teams of adolescents aged 13 to 19 from the municipalities of Travnik, Novi Travnik, Kiseljak, Fojnica, Jajce, Busovača and Bugojno participated in the competition.

At the final event organized online, all ten teams had the opportunity to present their ideas, but also to exchange experiences from the fourth eUPSHIFT workshop.

Rownak Khan, UNICEF Representative in BiH, addressed the participants and pointed out that all ten teams had identified very important problems and challenges that are important for young people in BiH.

“Globally, as in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we are all going through very strange times, because whatever we do at the moment is not normal. We shouldn’t talk to these wonderful young people across the screen. But also, in this time, we have learned to be patient, responsible, adaptable and flexible. These are truly the qualities that are needed for future generations, for all of you. I would like to congratulate all the participants on the expressed flexibility and the fact that they came up with so many innovative ideas,” said Khan.

Participants of the 4th eUPSHIFT workshop said that in addition to gaining new skills and meeting new friends, the workshop provided an opportunity to identify problems in their local communities, but also to find solutions for them with the help of mentors who led them.

eUPSHIFT is an online workshop designed according to the UPSHIFT methodology developed by UNICEF's Innovation Office, which aims to equip young people with the skills and resources needed to identify problems in local communities and design solutions.
