TUZLA, April 20 (FENA) - The Government of the Tuzla Canton has adopted the Energy Efficiency Plan in the area of Tuzla Canton for the period 2019-2021.
The Minister of Physical Planning and Environmental Protection of the TC Zvjezdan Karadžin stated at today's press conference that the cantonal plan is in line with the FBiH Action Plan, obligations from the Energy Community Treaty and the Energy Efficiency Law, which was adopted in March 2017.
He explained why this plan is only now being adopted, although it also refers to 2019, stating that there was a delay in the adoption of the FBiH Action Plan, which was adopted only at the beginning of this year, and which was supposed to define energy saving targets per megawatt-hour by cantons, for four areas: housing sector, public and commercial services sector, industry and transport.
The Tuzla Canton in the mentioned period has planned savings of 52,575 megawatt-hours, and the largest contribution to savings is given by measures from the so-called program P6, in public facilities, then from project P4 within which the Government included co-financing the replacement of existing coal-fueled boilers with pellet-fueled boilers.
The total financial resources planned for this purpose amount to four and a half million KM, and most of them refer to the P6 program, which amounts to close to four million KM, and for the P4 program for residential buildings and family houses, about half a million KM has been secured.
"BiH is the country that consumes the most energy per unit of product in Europe, we are in a difficult position, where we need to do decarbonization in the coming period, we must achieve significant savings in terms of energy consumption," Karadžin points out.
He assessed that the Tuzla Canton is one of the leaders in the field of energy efficiency in BiH.
