SARAJEVO, April 21 (FENA) - Representatives of the opposition parliamentary parties in the entity of Republika Srpska - Serb Democratic Party (SDS), Party of Democratic Progress (PDP), Democratic People's Alliance (DNS) and an independent MP Nebojša Vukanović agreed at a meeting in Jahorina today to run together in the upcoming general elections in BiH.
After the meeting, the President of the SDS, Mirko Šarović, stated that all participants agree and are ready to, as the opposition, run together in the upcoming general elections, and that this is the commitment of all participants.
He added that in the coming period, he would work on reaching an agreement on joint candidates for the positions that are directly elected in general elections, which is the election of the President of Republika Srpska and a member of the Presidency of BiH from the RS.
Šarovic said that the candidates would be a matter of the upcoming agreement and that he would not talk about it for the next few months.
He said that they also discussed the changes in the election legislation in BiH.
"Each of the political parties has its own position or proposals on which part of the election legislation should be changed," said Šarović, adding that they believe that the opposition, as well as the non-governmental sector and the Central Election Commission of BiH should participate in the process of amending the election legislation, "which has not been accepted so far in this process, which has partly already gone through the House of Representatives of the BiH PA".
The opposition parties agreed to harmonize their positions in the coming weeks, i.e. to harmonize several proposals for changes in the election legislation in one single document, so that they could influence the election process more efficiently and concretely.
