BiH PA HoP tomorrow to discuss Law on Foreigners, Election Law amendments

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, April 26 (FENA) - The amendments to the Law on Foreigners is one of the laws that the delegates in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina should consider at the session scheduled for tomorrow, April 27.

These amendments were previously adopted by the House of Representatives, and as stated in the explanation, they are necessary since the migrant crisis is a huge humanitarian and security challenge for all countries affected by this problem.

The changes are aimed at achieving the effect of deterring migrants from committing crimes and misdemeanors with the characteristics of violence and violations of public order and peace during their stay in BiH.

The implementation of this law should facilitate deportation and speed up the procedures for expelling those migrants who commit crimes and serious offenses on the territory of BiH, and thus send a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated.

The delegates will also discuss the amendments to the Election Law, which were also previously adopted by the House of Representatives, and which should regulate the institute of suspension of the parliamentary mandate, which is the right of MPs to, under certain circumstances, put the mandate on hold.

Delegates should also consider amendments to the Law on Salaries and Remunerations and the Labor Law, which provide for the abolition of the right to compensation on the basis of jubilee awards for elected and appointed officials in the BiH institutions.

Amendments to the Law on Public Procurement proposed by the Council of Ministers of BiH, which are one of the 14 priorities set before BiH by the European Commission for obtaining a candidate status, will also be discussed at the session.

Several initiatives are also on the agenda of the session, one of them involves establishing a social dialogue with trade unions and signing of a collective agreement.

One initiative refers to the formation of the Interdepartmental Working Group for Amendments to the Election Law in accordance with the judgments of the Constitutional Court, and at the same time, the delegates will discuss the Proposal for the establishment of the Interdepartmental Working Group for Preparation of Amendments to the same law.
