SARAJEVO, May 5 (FENA) - The Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) have been cooperating since the establishment of the police agency. IOM has provided support to the BiH Border Police from the very beginning on the operational strengthening of the BiH BP.
This was highlighted today at a meeting held by BiH Border Police Director Zoran Galić with Chief of the IOM Mission in BiH Laura Lungarotti and associates.
They also discussed the current situation with the migrant crisis, and Director Galić emphasized the importance and gratitude to IOM for its cooperation.
"Members of the BiH BP face an increased level of risk in performing their duties, especially during the migrant crisis, and it is very important that we have adequate equipment to more effectively protect the state border. It is clear that we have a big problem with lack of staff as well as material-technical resources. Therefore, I would like to thank the International Organization for Migration and the Chief of the IOM Mission in BiH for their continuous support and for recognizing the importance of strengthening the capacity of the BiH Border Police, which they have shown through cooperation so far," said Director Galić, announced the BiH Border Police.
