SARAJEVO, May 6 (FENA) - Head of the Bosniak caucus and member of the Collegium of the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament Jasmin Duvnjak expects that the Federation of BiH can have a new composition of the Securities Commission in 60 days at the latest, respecting all legal procedures.

As he reminded in an interview with FENA, the Securities Commission in the Federation of BiH has not been functioning at full capacity since October 30, 2019.

After the previous decision on the election of members did not receive confirmation from the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, the President of the Federation of BiH Marinko Čavara announced a new public competition on April 1 this year for the election and appointment of members of the Securities Commission. The competition was open for 15 days.

“According to my information, the Commission for interviewing the candidates is conducting interviews this week with candidates who meet strict conditions and criteria, after which it will forward the list of successful candidates to FBiH President Čavara, who will make a decision on appointment with the consent of FBiH Vice Presidents Melika Mahmudbegović and Milan Dunović,” says Duvnjak.

This phase is followed by the parliamentary phase of the procedure, where it is necessary for the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament to confirm this Decision.

“We urgently need to unblock the work of this Commission, bearing in mind the significant competencies it has, such as investor protection and market surveillance and market participants, supervision of securities issues and trading, as well as other activities to ensure efficient functioning of the securities market and prevent further damage to the market, capital, economy, banks, joint stock companies and shareholders, and especially to investors and those who create new jobs and create new value,” warned Duvnjak.

He reminded that the EU Delegation to BiH, the OHR, the American and British embassies, and the business community also warned about this.
