SARAJEVO, May 6 (FENA) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić received Matthew Field, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to BiH, today.
The officials discussed activities on limited reform of the Constitution and Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to implement five judgments of the European Court of Human Rights in accordance with 14 key priorities from the European Commission Opinion on BiH's application for EU membership, in order to eliminate the existing discrimination from the Constitution and the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The interlocutors agree that this is a very complex task, but can be realized if an appropriate political agreement is reached.
Komšić pointed out that the segment of protecting the integrity of the election process is also important, through the complete decriminalization of elections, in a way that takes into account all ODIHR recommendations in terms of introducing advanced technologies in election control and election results, in order to reduce the possibility of election theft and election manipulation.
They assessed that Bosnia and Herzegovina should move forward according to European standards in all areas, including election procedures, and that it should not be allowed to move backwards in any sense in the reform processes, the BiH Presidency said.
