TUZLA, May 11 (FENA) - The Government of the Tuzla Canton today appointed a team for analysis of hazardous waste in the industrial zone of Tuzla, which will analyze the actual situation in terms of quantities and types of residual substances in the former factories HAK 1 and HAK 2, and the former landfill in Moluhe.
It is about initiating activities in order to rehabilitate the disposal of toxic industrial waste in the area of the former factories, and the Cantonal Government will propose a solution for their removal.
An expert team has been formed with one task to establish what is really left of the dangerous substances in the complex of HAK 1. These are substances such as crude propylene oxide, ethylene oxide, chlorine, mercury, etc., said the Minister of Physical Planning and Environmental Protection of TC Zvjezdan Karadžin.
Some of it has been exported, but it is unknown how much is left and a proposal of measures should be given on how it can be properly disposed of.
"The waste was buried improperly and as such represents a danger, especially in case of floods," he emphasized.
