SARAJEVO, May 11 (FENA) - President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPCBiH) Halil Lagumdžija assessed today that insisting on the integrity of judicial office holders is a key priority of judicial reform in BiH.
Testifying before the Ad Hoc Inquiry Commission of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina to determine the situation in the judicial institutions of BiH, Lagumdžija, responding to a question regarding his vision of judicial reform, reminded that the HJPC adopted the Reform Program and that in the meanwhile, it has been offered to the judicial community for commenting.
He stated that in this context, activities have been initiated to establish an integrity department, which would, among other things, check the property records of judicial office holders - judges and prosecutors, and which activities include European Commission experts, who will also perform external monitoring.
He linked these activities to the amendments to the Law on the HJPC BiH, emphasizing that a large number of suggestions, more than 100 pages, have arrived from the judicial community and that the final text of the Reform Program of this regulatory body would be adopted at one of the next sessions.
The goal, as he said, is to remove from the BiH judiciary those who do not do their job in accordance with the proclaimed standards, since the vast majority of holders of judicial office perform the work for which they are paid honestly, highly professionally and conscientiously.
