SARAJEVO, May 14 (FENA) - The central ceremony of the Riyasat of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr was held yesterday morning at the Gazi Husrev-bey Mosque in Sarajevo.
The Eid prayer was led and the sermon was given by Rais-l-ulama Husein effendi Kavazović, who pointed out that "Ramadan has strengthened us spiritually, infused us with new life force, strengthened our faith and awakened hope."
"We need that force on our road in order to deal with the difficulties that might arrive. There are struggles ahead of us, there are more of them, not one, and the most important of them is the one with our individual and common weaknesses.
Faith in God is an inexhaustible source of strength. What is required of us is honesty in intention and action and devotion to the truths of the faith that leads us to obedience to God and peace among people," Kavazović pointed out.
He also told the faithful to be constructive and not quarrelsome.
"In our public space, especially among Muslims, Bosniaks, this quarrelsome mentality has emerged and that is not good. Smart people among us are obliged to point out this disease. We need to get rid of inflammatory words and the so-called spokespersons that poison relations between us on our behalf. Instead, let's step into the public space and point out with respect and appreciation those anomalies that weaken our community and endanger the safety of our country," Kavazović emphasized.
He drew attention not to underestimate the dangers that lie ahead.
"Our homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina is in a difficult situation, but these circumstances are not even close to those we went through in the past," Kavazović believes.
He especially pointed out that hatred can destroy bridges between people, and that dialogue is the way to an agreement, and quarreling is the way to destruction.
Kavazović wished all brothers and sisters in the homeland, the diaspora, in Sandžak, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Kosovo and North Macedonia happy Eid days, to spend them in peace and serenity with their families, relatives and neighbors.
