BRDO NEAR KRANJ/SARAJEVO, May 17 (FENA) - President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović said at a press conference after a meeting of leaders on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Brdo-Brijuni process in Brdo near Kranj that they have agreed on the text of the Declaration, as a compromise in which all had to give up something.
According to him, there were certain disputes and misunderstandings.
"Let's say that the agenda of Kosovo President Osmani was somewhat more ambitious and that due to Serbia's opposition, some parts had to be dropped," stated Milanović.
He added that he sees this as a perfectly acceptable price for a document that is good.
He pointed out that Slovenia and Croatia are "here, first of all, to help the countries that are in the integration process, in a phase in which we were 15 or 20 years ago, first Slovenia and then Croatia."
"That was actually the only motive. The motive is neither mentoring, nor tutoring, nor any career and biographical components for any of us, I am sure of that, but to help the countries, because we see our own interest in that," stated Milanović.
He said that the bilateral issues that the countries participating in the initiative have with each other, will not be solved within the Brdo-Brioni process and that he thought "it would be healthy not to bring them up because that hindered our work a bit today."
"But, it seems to me that we came to the finish line quite patiently and persistently, meaning that we have reached compromised but a clear solution that we all stand behind. We will see each other in a year, we still don't know where, whether it will be Pristina or Belgrade," stated Milanović.
