SARAJEVO, May 18 (FENA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the Federation of BiH Jelka Milićević said that due to unfinished negotiations with the IMF there is no need for a budget revision, but that the government made it possible to release the funds for municipalities with smaller corrections within the budget.
Milićević explained that this is the amount of about 30 million KM for capital investments in municipalities that the Federation of BiH will allocate by public invitation.
"For these reasons, the Government proposed amendments to the Law on Budget Execution under the urgent procedure, and this is a minor change that does not disturb the liquidity or the status of the Federation of BiH related to borrowing," Milićević told FENA.
She added that this would create preconditions for the timely launch of procedures and the announcement of a public call, as well as the selection of projects to be financed by the FBiH Government.
"Our budget is stable and we regularly settle our obligations, and we are most proud of meeting our obligations according to social categories," said Milićević.
She underlined that in 2014, the total debt managed by the FBiH Government amounted to 35 percent of GDP, that at the end of 2019 it amounted to 24 percent of GDP, and at the end of 2020, due to increased needs and reduced revenues, it amounted to 27.93 percent of GDP.
"We advocate borrowing that is in the function of development, and never in the function of general spending" Milićević pointed out.
