Čović-Grlić Radman: Israel has an absolute right to protect itself from attacks

FENA Press release

MOSTAR, May 23 (FENA) - President of HDZ BiH and Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH Dragan Čović met yesterday with Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia Gordan Grlić Radman with whom he agreed that Israel has an absolute right to protect itself from attacks by terrorist organizations, but also an obligation to achieve peace.

Prior to joint participation in the commemoration of the 76th anniversary of the Bleiburg tragedy and Way of the Cross of the Croat people at Radimlja near Stolac, officials commented on the political, security and epidemiological situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia.

The participant agreed that political dialogue, compromise and the signed agreement of political officials from June 2020, which resulted in the elections in Mostar, with mediation and participation of representatives of the international community in BiH, must guide further necessary reform processes in BiH.

In accordance with the signed Mostar Agreement, certain changes must be made in the Election Law, i.e. the election legislation with limited amendments to the Constitution, in order to make the entire election process more transparent, credible and to avoid these problems we have now in BiH.

Officials also referred to the current political developments in the Middle East and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, "which some knowingly, to a certain extent and maliciously, want to transfer to the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina."

"Israel has an absolute right to resist attacks by Hamas, which threatens not only the Middle East but also a global threat. The peace process and direct negotiations between the two sides should lead to a sustainable and final political solution and ensure lasting peace. At the moment, the will on both sides to end the unrest is being shown, and we hope that diplomatic activities will have the result to the satisfaction of both the Israeli and Palestinian people," Čović and Grlić Radman concluded, announced HDZ BiH.
