SARAJEVO, May 28 (FENA) - A documentary exhibition of photographs and documents "Diplomatic Path of Alija Izetbegović", organized by the "Alija Izetbegović" Museum and in cooperation with the Bosniak Community of Culture "Preporod", was opened today at the Preporod Gallery.
The exhibition presents the work of Alija Izetbegović in the context of strengthening the position of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the international level.
On this occasion, the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Šefik Džaferović, pointed out that Alija Izetbegović is the most important person in the modern history of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Alija Izetbegović was at the head of Bosnia and Herzegovina when it was the hardest,” said Džaferović, emphasizing that Alija Izebegović was at the head of the state at the time of ensuring the independence of BiH, its international recognition, as well as at the time of defending BiH from aggression.
“Under his leadership, Bosnia and Herzegovina was defended from aggression and preserved as a complete, democratic state,” said Džaferović.
Director of the "Alija Izetbegović" Museum, Nadja Berberović-Dizdarević, said that with the exhibition, this institution symbolically marks the 29th anniversary of the day when Bosnia and Herzegovina officially became a member of the United Nations, which happened on May 22, 1992.
“The exhibition consists of 30 panels and is divided into three chronological phases: the pre-war period, the period of aggression and the period of diplomatic activity of the first president of the Presidency of BiH. The exhibition features more than a hundred photographs and documents taken from the private archives of President Izetbegović. Many photos and documents were presented to the public for the first time,” said Berberović-Dizdarević.
