SARAJEVO, May 31 (FENA) - Preferential treatment of domestic companies in the public procurement procedure, more liberal entry of foreigners into BiH and abolition of visas for citizens of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Great Britain and Northern Ireland were some items on the agenda of today's extraordinary session of the BiH Council of Ministers.
As the Minister of Justice of BiH, Josip Grubeša (HDZ), said, none of those three items on the agenda received the necessary consent to be adopted.
"All three items were in the second round of voting and can be found again before the Council of Ministers," said Grubeša.
He points out that the HDZ supported the decision on the more liberal entry of foreigners into BiH, while it was against the preferential treatment of domestic business entities in public procurement and was against the abolition of visas for citizens of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
"We were against the other two proposals because the European Commission has clearly expressed its concern in that regard. Preferential treatment opposes free trade, and the Commission has also expressed concerns about the abolition of visas for Saudi Arabia. Of course, tourists are welcome and it is true that we have a tourism sector with huge problems. We are in communication with all tourism workers, but we must have security preconditions for everyone who comes to BiH. People from Saudi Arabia who come to BiH mostly have visas for some of the European countries or the United States and their visas are also valid for BiH," said the Minister of Justice of BiH.
He added that the HDZ will protect BiH's European path, regardless of the fact that it is sometimes presented to the public that this is not the case.
"We will never hinder the European processes in BiH," Grubeša concluded.
