SARAJEVO, May 31 (FENA) - The unreasonable and completely inexplicable decision of the HDZ BiH ministers in the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina to vote against visa facilitation for the citizens of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, causes multimillion damage to the BiH tourism industry, said the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) in its reaction today.
The SDA says that despite the fact that BiH tourism has been on its knees during the pandemic and the cries of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina, tourist associations from all over the country, requests from airlines, hoteliers and investors, the HDZ ministers voted against the decision, and have thus directly harmed all BiH citizens.
"While a rich country like Switzerland, through the tourism organization and embassy, is running a campaign and inviting Arab tourists to come to this country, the HDZ is leaving BiH without millions of KM with its unreasonable decisions. Bearing in mind that the citizens of China and South American countries, such as Brazil and Argentina, are exempt from the visa regime for entering our country, the opposition by the HDZ ministers can be explained in only two ways - either they are intentionally and maliciously working against the interests of BiH and its tourism threatening thousands of jobs or their decision is the result of Islamophobia," saif the SDA in a statement.
The SDA states that the opposition by the HDZ ministers is even more unreasonable if we take into account the fact that the Decision stipulates that citizens of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are exempted from the obligation to obtain visas in the period from May 15 to October 15 in a calendar year, with a maximum stay of 30 days, and that they must present proof of payment of their accommodation and a return plane ticket.
The SDA calls on the HDZ not to politicize a rational decision, for which the opinions of all competent institutions have been obtained, and to stop working against its own country because it will bear sole responsibility for the jobs lost in the tourism sector, but also for multimillion financial damage for the budgets in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
