Russian Embassy: The process of appointing a new HR is incomplete

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, June 3 (FENA) - After its dissenting opinion from yesterday's final communiqué of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council in BiH (PIC), the Embassy of the Russian Federation issued a statement emphasizing that the document is unbalanced and biased.

"Many points of the document exceed the mandate of the Steering Board. Moreover, some statements contradict not only the spirit but also the letter of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH, the Russian Embassy points out.

They reiterate their view that the process of appointing a new High Representative is incomplete.

"Without the approval of the UN Security Council, his election will be illegitimate," it is said in the statement.

The embassy also reaffirms Russia's commitment to the fundamental Dayton principles of equality of the constituent peoples and the two entities with broad constitutional powers.

"The starting point is the fact that there is no alternative to their independent dialogue based on mutual respect on all current issues," concluded the Russian Embassy in BiH.
