SREBRENICA, June 8 (FENA) - The survivors of the genocide who gathered in Srebrenica today said that they are partially satisfied with the final verdict against Ratko Mladić, which confirmed the life sentence for this war criminal.

One of the survivors, who today publicly watched the sentencing at the Potočari Memorial Center, is Nedžad Avdić, who said such a verdict was expected, although he hoped Mladić would be convicted of genocide in other BiH municipalities.

"Every verdict will eventually create a mosaic for every criminal, and it is important for the sake of children and future generations. No one will be able to deny that they put us in trucks here and took us to mass murder sites. This finally puts a seal on evil," Avdić told FENA.

A mother from Srebrenica, Bida Osmanović lost her son and numerous family members in the genocide, and she points out that the surviving victims must come to terms with this verdict.

The director of the Potočari Memorial Center, Emir Suljagić, emphasizes that the surviving victims were deprived of one vote for the judicially established facts of genocide in Prijedor, Zvornik, Foča and other municipalities.

"There was no doubt that something could change regarding Srebrenica. Ratko Mladić did not kill so many people alone, nor did he organize the forced deportation of thirty thousand people in three days. He did none of that alone, the people who followed him then are now following some other politicians in Bosnia and Herzegovina. And unfortunately, they continue to produce hatred," Suljagić underlined.

The President of the Srebrenica Municipal Assembly, Ćamil Duraković, says that this verdict is a minimum what can be expected and that it will forever remain in history as a policy of genocide.

"This is the verdict against the second most important person now in terms of the complete military-political leadership of the Republika Srpska in that period. We now have this doomed policy that will forever go down in history as a policy of genocide. I think that there is a small dose of disappointment in our country when it comes to other municipalities that were covered by the indictment, given that we saw in a specific way the ratio of judges' votes," says Duraković.

He emphasizes that the surviving victims are partially satisfied, but ultimately and permanently they are not, because there are still those who implement the ideology that these criminals have created.
