SARAJEVO, June 10 (FENA) - Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PSBiH) Bakir Izetbegović is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, where he met, in separate meetings, with Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov and Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov expressed respect for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the progress made by the country in the last two decades, emphasizing that he is following the events in Bosnia and Herzegovina with great attention and that Azerbaijan strongly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH.
Izetbegović congratulated Ahmadov and the citizens of Azerbaijan on the successful reintegration of their territory during the last liberation war, expressing the expectation that they will succeed in building the necessary infrastructure and creating living conditions for the population in the area as soon as possible.
During the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, the two officials discussed the planned opening of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Bosnia and Herzegovina and vice versa, which, as it was assessed, would contribute to further strengthening the relations between the two countries.
Izetbegović and Bayramov also discussed the possibilities of improving economic cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Azerbaijan in areas such as metal, defense and wood industries, energy and tourism, and the possibility of establishing a direct airlink connecting the two countries.
Izetbegović extended an invitation to Azerbaijani officials to pay a return visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
