SARAJEVO, June 11 (FENA) - Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković said that the HDZ BiH ministers at today's session of the BiH Council of Ministers once again blocked the full economic recovery of tourism by voting against temporarily easing the visa regime for Saudi Arabia citizens.
The fact that the BiH economy will therefore lose millions of KM in revenues will be difficult to mitigate with today's adoption of a decision that allows the entry of foreigners on the basis of vaccination and rapid antigen tests, said Turković in a statement via social networks.
"I supported this proposal after it was adequately prepared, although the HDZ blocked my proposal, which is also in the interest of all citizens in BiH and which was supported by tourism workers from all over the country. Our policy has never been a policy of trade and obstruction as we have shown countless times, but a policy of what is best for Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the interest of all citizens in this case of tourism development.
But spite and obstruction without arguments and rational explanations, which we saw again at the session of the Council of Ministers from the HDZ ministers, is an indicator of why we need a functional and strong state, without the possibility of someone's petty interests standing in the way of economic recovery and Euro-Atlantic integration," said Turković.
She called on the Minister of Justice of BiH, Josip Grubeša, to explain to the citizens why BiH will not collect millions of KM from VAT and in whose interest it is for tourists to go to other countries and not come to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"After this shameful decision, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH will take urgent measures in order to, within the existing regime, faster and more efficiently process the issuing of visas for citizens of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and in order to mitigate the consequences of such harmful decisions of ministers from the HDZ BiH in the Council of Ministers of BiH," concluded Turković.
