SARAJEVO, June 14 (FENA) - Deputies of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina should consider amendments to the Law on the Council of Ministers of BiH proposed by the deputies of Our Party and the Independent Bloc Mirjana Marinković-Lepić and Aida Baručija at the session scheduled for Tuesday, June 15.
These are amendments that, according to the proponents, are necessary for harmonization with the Law on Gender Equality of BiH, which prescribes the obligation to harmonize all state and entity laws as well as other relevant regulations with the provisions of that law.
Among other things, it envisages the regulation of the prescribed quota for the composition of the Council of Ministers of at least 40 percent of persons of both sexes, as a special measure due to the constant underrepresentation of women in ministerial positions, ranging from zero to two at most.
It also stipulates that state bodies at all levels of government and local self-government bodies, including the legislature, the executive and the judiciary, will ensure and promote equal gender representation in governance, decision-making and representation.
The deputies will also discuss the Bill on the Protection of the Right to Trial within a Reasonable Time before the Court of BiH in the first reading, and the deputies will also comment on several reports of the Collegium on efforts to reach agreement on several legal solutions which were not previously adopted by the House of Representatives.
They include amendments to the Law on Public Procurement, amendments to the Criminal Code, amendments to the Law on Value Added Tax and amendments to the Law on Financing of Institutions, as well as amendments to the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
