BiH PA HoR rejects to consider amending BiH Election Law in an urgent procedure

FENA Muhamed Hadžibegić

SARAJEVO, June 15 (FENA) - Member of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina BiH Nenad Nešić (DNS) explained at today's session of the House that his proposal to amend the Election Law of BiH would enable that the mandates belong to the political parties on whose lists they were won, to prevent trade in mandates.

He pointed out that especially in the National Assembly of the RS, there is a phenomenon that those who win a mandate in one party end up in another, or establish a new one.

MP Nikola Lovrinović (HDZBiH) said that the proposal should be considered by the Interdepartmental Working Group for Amendments to the Election Legislation and that he did not support the request for it to be considered under the urgent procedure.

MP Alma Čolo (SDA) emphasized that this is a delicate issue that should not be considered in an urgent procedure, given that there are semi-open candidate lists in the election legislation, which allows voters to influence the selection of a certain candidate.

MP Snježana Novaković-Bursać (SNSD) believes that the Election Law is a very demanding matter to be changed by urgent procedure, although there is nothing against the proposed solution.

MP Nešić's request that the Bill on Amendments to the Election Law of BiH be considered in an urgent procedure was not adopted, but will be considered in a regular procedure.
