Salkić informs Turkish Ambassador about the position of Bosniaks in RS

FENA Press release

BANJA LUKA / SARAJEVO, June 23 (FENA) - Vice President of the BiH entity Republika Srpska (RS) Ramiz Salkić talked today in Banja Luka with Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bosnia and Herzegovina Sadik Babur Girgin.

The RS Vice President acquainted the Ambassador with the status of Bosniaks in the RS and the processes taking place in this entity, which are contrary to the interests of the citizens and the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Salkić’s Office announced.

Salkić emphasized that education in the Bosnian mother tongue, employment and national representation in the entity bodies are issues that will determine the number of Bosniaks in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the future.

He asked Ambassador Girgin, through the Peace Implementation Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to help end the systemic discrimination against Bosniaks in the entity by the entity authorities. He pointed out that 1.30 percent of Bosniaks are employed in the entity bodies, and according to the Constitution of the RS entity, Article 97, employment should correspond to the 1991 census. Salkić stated that the current employment of Bosniaks in local administrations is equally poor.

Today's meeting was also attended by Oguz Kilic, Consul General of the Consulate of the Republic of Turkey based in Banja Luka.
