KALINOVIK / NEVESINJE, June 27 (FENA) - BiH Presidency member Šefik Džaferović visited Kalinovik today and participated with survivors and family members of killed victims in marking the 29th anniversary of the crimes against the Bosniak population of that municipality.
Out of total of 122 killed Bosniaks in Kalinovik area, 80 have been found and identified. Members of the Serb paramilitary and police killed 122 Bosniaks from Kalinovik, and more than 1,000 of them were in the concentration camps.
Family members and friends of those killed told Kalinovik residents that it was high time to talk about the locations where the victims' remains were hidden, and the municipality's authorities were told to remove the mural celebrating war criminal Ratko Mladić, who has been at the entrance to the town for years.
BiH Presidency member Džaferović also called on the local authorities in Kalinovik to finally face the truth.
“Ratko Mladić will not be remembered as a hero. In the civilized world he will be remembered only as a criminal, and we should all go the civilized way, the way of the civilized world, not the way of barbarism. This mural at the entrance to Kalinovik should be removed, because it is a shame of civilization,” said Džaferović.
