FBiH and USAID sign Memorandum to upgrade electronic registry of social services

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, June 29 (FENA) - Director of the USAID Mission in BiH Nancy Eslick and FBiH Minister of Labor and Social Policy Vesko Drljača signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which will upgrade the electronic registry of compensations and beneficiaries of social services in the FBiH.

The result will be greater transparency and integrity of public services, faster and more efficient processes for both government and citizens, and secure exchange of information between institutions at all levels of government.

According to the agreement between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the implementation of the new USAID e-government project, public services should become more transparent and provide easier access to assistance.

USAID will provide organizational and financial support to modernize the administration, from process optimization and upgrading of existing IT systems to procurement and delivery of required hardware and software licenses.

To ensure the proper functioning of the system, USAID will also provide training, as well as maintenance, subsequent changes and improvements to its functionality for users and administrators of the electronic social assistance registry.

“BiH must modernize its administration and make it more functional to support a stronger business environment and improve the lives of citizens,” said Nancy Eslick and added that the FBiH is committed to improving the quality of life for all citizens in FBiH, and USAID's E-government project is pleased to help in such a process, USAID said.

The electronic system will centralize mandatory identification documents, income and household data on property, expenses and social and health needs, and the applicant's needs could be identified much more quickly.

It will also provide services to citizens more efficiently and reduce the administrative burden caused by the current lengthy and error-prone collection of paper documents.

Minister Drljača emphasized that the first activity within this Memorandum will be the collection of information from the existing IT systems needed to achieve a comprehensive electronic registry of social assistance.
