Komšić wrote to Rangel: Certain ethnic policies reject the Resolution on BiH

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, June 30 (FENA) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić sent a letter to the Special Rapporteur of the European Parliament for Bosnia and Herzegovina Paulo Rangel and expressed satisfaction with the adopted Resolution on BiH in the EU Parliament. However, he warned him that certain policies in BiH rejected the content of the Resolution, FENA learns.

In the letter, Komšić thanked for the recently adopted Resolution on Bosnia and Herzegovina, which very precisely and accurately
diagnoses the situation in this country.

"I also consider it crucial that the Report protects the fundamental values of the European Union regarding the rule of law, the fight against corruption, democracy, stable and functional institutions as well as the protection of individual human rights, as one of the necessary European standards," he stated.

Komšić especially emphasized the importance of the part of the Report, which mentions that "Two schools under one roof" is an expression of ethnic segregation and discrimination, which is characteristic of totalitarian systems that do not respect human rights and fundamental freedoms at all.

"However, here in Bosnia and Herzegovina, unfortunately, there are anachronistic policies and political actors, who recently rejected the Report on Bosnia and Herzegovina through their official conclusions, demanding explicit retention of the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovma, which is determined as systemic discrimination in five judgments of the European Court of Human Rights - Sejdić / Finci, Zornić, Pilav, Šlaku and Pudarić. I would also like to inform you that I am fully committed to meeting 14 key priorities from the Opinion of the European Commission on Bosnia and Herzegovina‘s application for membership in the European Union because it improves the political and economic system of my country and, at the same time, creates opportunities for equality of all citizens," Komšić wrote.

He also expressed his belief that together with the institutions of the European Union, we can remove all the blockades in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which are caused by particular ethnic policies, to the detriment of human rights and fundamental freedoms of all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
