SARAJEVO, July 1 (FENA) - Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and leader of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović said today that it is good that the European Parliament responded on HDZ initiatives and commented in which direction BiH needs to go.
“We have 14 priorities of the European Commission and now this Resolution of the European Parliament which says that the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights should not be used for anything other than what is stated in the content of those judgments,” said Izetbegović.
He added that they helped us to know in which direction we should go, and they are not further divisions and political segregation in BiH.
“HDZ BIH and HNS are asking for a constitutional change because the Dayton Constitution does not accidentally state that the Presidency will consist of one Bosniak, one Croat and one Serb and not a Croat representative because all three members represent the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina and all citizens and constituent peoples,” pointed out Izetbegović.
He believes that there is now discrimination against the majority in parliament by a minority, specifically the HDZ, which manifests in the blockades we have been living through these two years.
“The protection of the constituent peoples should be reduced exclusively to the protection of vital national interests, as is the case in RS,” Izetbegović emphasized, adding that he went to Brussels to explain the matter and ask for support for a balanced change of the Constitution.
Izetbegović said that Slovenia has reasons to prove that its officials are not behind non-paper, and that they will have the opportunity and the need to be very constructive and correct towards BiH.
