SARAJEVO, July 8 (FENA) - The Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH) have been provided with appropriate medical equipment through the mechanism of the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Center (EARDCC), intended to strengthen capacities in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and all health crises situations.
The donation is in the form of three negative pressure chambers, type ISOARK N-36-4-H for isolation and emergency medical transport of infected persons, whose procurement is financed through the NATO Trust Fund.
On that occasion, a handover ceremony of valuable equipment was organized today at the Rajlovac barracks in Sarajevo, which will contribute to a more efficient response to current health challenges and which, in addition to members of the AFBiH, can be used for civilian purposes.
The Deputy Commander of the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo, Brigadier Olcay Denizer, said during the handover that the mentioned NATO center has provided support to Bosnia and Herzegovina from the very beginning of the pandemic, emphasizing the Alliance's commitment to continue providing such support.
"I am confident that this support will continue and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Czech Republic, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States once again for the generous donation through the NATO Trust Fund," Brigadier Denizer added.
On behalf of the BiH defense institutions, Assistant Minister of Defense of BiH Zoran Šainović expressed his gratitude, emphasizing that we are witnessing another donation that the AFBiH received from NATO allies.
"This act demonstrates NATO's commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as an understanding for our needs," said Šainović, welcoming the readiness of NATO to support efforts to preserve peace and security for all peoples and citizens of BiH.
The handover ceremony at the AFBiH barracks in Rajlovac, next to BiH defense officials, was attended by representatives of the NATO headquarters in Sarajevo and the military-diplomatic corps in BiH.
