Komšić, Džaferović meet with Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazović

SARAJEVO, July 9 (FENA) - Members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić and Šefik Džaferovi talked today with the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazović, and expressed satisfaction with the extremely good friendly relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, as two countries committed to advancing regional cooperation and good neighborly relations.

Komšić and Džaferović stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina is committed to activities aimed at improving and continuing political dialogue in the region, and strengthening cooperation in various areas that are of particular importance for the stability of the region.

They reiterated Bosnia and Herzegovina's commitment to resolving outstanding issues with its neighbors through dialogue while respecting the principles of BiH's foreign policy, as well as the principles that are an integral part of international law. They stressed the readiness of Bosnia and Herzegovina for a constructive and continuous dialogue in order to make progress in resolving all open issues.

The two sides stated that Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro are achieving comprehensive institutional cooperation in various areas, especially at the political level, in strengthening regional cooperation and in the segment of contractual regulations.

They also emphasized readiness to improve cooperation in the fields of economy, infrastructural connections, energy, tourism, science, culture and education and discussed the importance of infrastructure projects, such as the reconstruction of the road Foca - Šćepan Polje, the construction of the Adriatic-Ionian motorway, which are, as said, prerequisites for strengthening trade and exploiting the tourist potential of both countries.

Speaking about the foreign policy priorities regarding membership in the European Union and NATO, it was emphasized that this will contribute to lasting stability and progress in the region. They also talked about the current political situation after the elections in Montenegro and the transition of power, the position of minorities in Montenegro, and other topics.

Komšić and Džaferović expressed gratitude to the Parliament of Montenegro, which adopted the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica in June this year.

Abazović thanked the members of the Presidency of BiH, Željko Komšić and Šefik Džaferović, for the reception.

He said that he would attend the commemoration of the 26th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide and that a high-level delegation in Srebrenica will be headed by Montenegrin President Milo Đukanović. He emphasized that the Government, the people and the citizens of Montenegro respect and accept the truth and the past and that they are building the future of their country on those foundations, stated the Presidency of BiH.
