SREBRENICA, July 9 (FENA) - As part of the marking of the 26th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, an exhibition of photographs titled "Scars" by Paul Lowe opened today in the former battery factory, now part of the complex of the Potočari Memorial Center in collaboration with the MESS Festival.

The exhibition "Scars" thematizes Sarajevo from the period of the siege, but from a different angle. Paul Lowe has had connections to Sarajevo since the early 1990s. During the siege, he spent months walking around the city and capturing destroyed and damaged architecture with a camera.

"One of the topics I followed was the impact of aggression on the architectural material of the city. On how heavy weapons destroyed buildings, how shrapnel left violent marks on streets and walls, and how citizens built makeshift barricades to protect themselves. The exhibition "Scars" documents precisely the textures of destruction, which at the time represented a terrifying beauty," Lowe said.
