Erdogan: We are obliged to do everything to preserve lasting peace in BiH

POTOČARI, July 11 (FENA) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a video message at the commemoration in Srebrenica today that he would not allow this dark stain in European and world history to be put aside in any way.

He added that the verdict of the international court against war criminal Ratko Mladić last month could not alleviate the pain caused by genocide.

"Verdicts cannot return those who are lost or heal the wounds in our hearts, but they can play a role in preventing genocide from ever happening again," Erdogan said.

He pointed out that, without forgetting the past and allowing our minds to become a hostage of emotions, we must work for the future of our children.

He called on all politicians to oppose hate speech, violence and discrimination and to turn to human values together.

“The stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina is important for the Balkans and Europe and it is our duty to do everything to preserve the lasting peace. Turkey will continue to be with the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the future, as before, with prayers that such suffering will not happen again to anyone,” Erdogan said.
