POTOČARI, July 11 (FENA) - Montenegrin President Milo Djukanović said today in Potočari, where he attended the commemoration and burial of the remains of 19 victims of the Srebrenica genocide, that this is the time of restoring retrograde policies from the early 1990s.
Commenting on the statements of Serbian officials who told Montenegro that they would not forget the adoption of the Resolution on the Srebrenica genocide in the Assembly of that country, as well as the statement of the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik that empty coffins are lowered into graves at the cemetery in Potočari, Djukanović warned that such policies have led all nations to terrible tragedies.
“The culmination of these crimes took place in Srebrenica. We all believed, obviously too early, that these ideas and ideologies were buried in the Srebrenica disaster and other disasters in the former Yugoslavia. Unfortunately, it turned out that we were expressing joy too soon,” Djukanović added.
He believes that the struggle for adoption and respect of civilization values in this region and for the realization of the European perspective of each of the states will continue.
Therefore, he says, no special importance should be given to these unreasonable and irrational political messages regarding this tragic event, instead he said that he came to Potočari to pay tribute to the victims and express his sympathy with their families.
He expressed belief that without a complete truth and justice, not a millimeter progress can be made in restoring confidence, which is a precondition for achieving stability and European perspective.
“Those retrograde policies have raised their heads again, but it is no longer just a Balkan phenomenon, they have also raised their heads in other European countries. The policies of nationalism and fascist ideas are back on the scene. If we do not establish a clear, democratic political front in time in relation to these ideas, we are in danger of making mistakes again,” Djukanović believes.
Such events, says Djukanović, should be a message of empowerment in the belief that it is necessary to build a front of resistance to retrograde ideas and preserve the European perspective, stability and prosperity for Bosnia and Herzegovina and all societies in the Balkans.
