SARAJEVO, July 13 (FENA) - The BiH Council of Ministers Chairman Zoran Tegeltija said in Brussels today that BiH has done a lot in 2020 to meet the conditions of the European Commission's Opinion and is ready to do enough to get candidate status in 2021.

At a press conference after the 4th meeting of the Stabilization and Association Council European Union - Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tegeltija said that the candidate status is important as a message to citizens that the EU is with us because many are trying to show that the Union has forgotten the countries of Western Balkans.

"We understand all our obligations and deadlines, but we ask for patience and understanding, as well as for the validation of what we have done in the previous period," Tegeltija added.

He said that BiH is ready to work on new election legislation that would enable all BiH citizens to vote, to be nominated, and to be elected.

"It will take more time, but that will not prevent the elections in 2022 from being held," Tegeltija pointed out.

He underlined that BiH bears too much of a burden of migration and cannot accept being in a position of a collective center for migrants.

He also expressed gratitude for the EU's assistance in overcoming the health and economic consequences of the pandemic.
