NATO remains committed to its partnership with Bosnia and Herzegovina

BRUSSELS/SARAJEVO, July 25 (FENA) - NATO remains committed to partnership with Bosnia and Herzegovina and reconciliation in the country, the NATO headquarters in Brussels said in a statement for FENA.

"The genocide in Srebrenica was one of the worst crimes in Europe since the end of the Second World War. Bosnia and Herzegovina has come a long way in restoring trust between communities.

For reconciliation to continue, the way forward must include acknowledging the suffering that has taken place, it is said in NATO's response to FENA  Feni upon a request for comment after the BiH Presidency member Milorad Dodik announced that he would launch a dissolution process and prevent the functioning of the BiH institutions on the territory of the RS (BiH Prosecutor's Office, SIPA, etc.) after High Representative Valentin Inzko passed amendments to the BiH Criminal Code banning genocide denial.

The denial of genocide is unacceptable. NATO remains committed to our partnership with Bosnia and Herzegovina and reconciliation in the country. NATO allies have made it clear that they support the territorial integrity of BiH and have repeatedly demanded that political leaders avoid the rhetoric of divisions, it is said in the response from NATO.
