SARAJEVO, July 29 (FENA) - The Central Bank of BiH (CBBH) is constantly working on improving the systems it manages, it was pointed out today during a thematic meeting with journalists dedicated to the role and importance of payment systems and registers in the CBBH.

Saša Lemez from the Payment Systems Department of the CBBH said that the CBBH registers consist of the Unified Register of Transaction Accounts of Legal Entities, as well as the Central Register of Loans for Legal Entities and the Central Register of Loans for Individuals.

He reminded that in 2001 the payment system was transferred from the Payment Bureau to commercial banks, and that then there was a need to record those accounts. In 2004, the Central Bank, in accordance with its legal role to promote financial stability and financial discipline, created the Unified Register of Transaction Accounts, which contains data on the accounts of legal entities, and the data are submitted to the register by commercial banks.

Speaking about the central credit register, Lemez stated that in 2020 the number of approved loans to individuals was 961,321, which is a decrease compared to 2019, but that the situation has already improved this year and 826,314 loans have been approved so far.
