SARAJEVO, July 30 (FENA) - Two thirds of citizens assess the current situation in the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina as unsatisfactory, according to a survey of citizens' perceptions of the situation in the judiciary conducted by Ipsos agency for the Office of the High Representative.
The survey was conducted in March 2021 on a representative sample of BiH citizens aged 15 and over.
According to this survey, the majority of BiH citizens would support the BiH High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council or the High Representative to intervene in the judiciary if such an intervention were aimed at eliminating corrupt judges and prosecutors.
Two thirds of BiH citizens believe that it is necessary to return foreign judges and prosecutors to the Court and the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.
Seven out of ten BiH citizens support the High Representative, in accordance with his powers, to sanction prosecutors who do not act on criminal charges within a reasonable time (keep them in a drawer, keep the case time-barred).
The citizens of the Federation of BiH would support the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH or the High Representative to intervene in the judiciary, if such an intervention were aimed at removing corrupt judges and prosecutors.
They also believe that it is necessary to return foreign judges and prosecutors to the Court and the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.
On the other hand, the citizens of the Republika Srpska and the Brčko District do not support the High Representative in sanctioning prosecutors who do not act on criminal charges within a reasonable time.
